This week was the first week back after the holiday. I must admit that I found it quite difficult to settle back in to the routine and my progress has been a little bit slower this week.
I spent the first couple of days editing photos for my sketchbook, catching up on written work, and doing quick gesture studies to help ease me back into drawing after a little break, as well as practice.
I did a slightly longer study of an older photo of mine, and I used it as a basis to design a dragon on the spot. I was quite pleased with how I was able to translate the basic anatomy across.

Above: A photo I took of a Bobcat at the Fenn Bell Zoo.

Above: A quick study of the Bobcat that I was able to turn into a dragon with no plan.
On Thursday we had the Interim show.
This, I had been absolutely dreading. I don't like meeting or talking to new people on the best of days, so a couple of hours of presenting work that, at that point, I was quite embarrassed by? It wasn't my idea of a very pleasant afternoon.
In the end the show went fairly well, and I did find it interesting to look at the work of my peers in other disciplines. However, while the people that looked at my work were lovely and I valued their opinions, they were perhaps a little too kind and I wasn't able to take any suggestions away from the day. In all honesty, I feel that the afternoon would have been better spent working on something else, for me personally.
