Upon finishing Altered States Part 1, I started a two week project to 'wrap up' the Altered States project. I can make whatever type of outcome I like as long as it is completed within the two weeks and it carries forward techniques and concepts learned within Part 1.

During a group seminar discussion where we exchanged ideas, I decided that good aspects of my work to carry forward and refine would be my experimental uses of colour to alter images (See my 'Altering Photos' post) and uses of lighting inspired by some of the short film work (See Premiere Pro screenshots in my 'Filming Techniques' post).

I think that this will be a good jump off point for me to develop something new that I can be proud of.

After looking back at my own work, at some of the mood boards provided for inspiration, games I play in my own time, media I watch, music I listen to and some of my other hobbies, I was able to put together a vague concept to take forward for this project.

Introduction

In this project, I will produce one or two outcomes that relate to my chosen degree (Game Art) and the theme of Altered States.

I will design box art with a focus on colour for a game with the core concept of altered time and reality, demonstrating my skills in illustration as well as character and environment design.

Resources

I will need my iPad with access to Procreate, and possibly Photoshop.

Preparation

I will need to research existing games and media both related and unrelated to the theme I have chosen in order to take inspiration from a wider range of places. I will need to create thumbnail sketches to explore composition and concept. I will need to sketch design ideas for each aspect of the piece. I will need to gather reference material for the areas I am not as confident in.

Specific Reference

This will be added to throughout the project.

Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA MegaMix

Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Future Tone

Professor Layton and the Lost Future ('Professor Layton and the Unwound Future' in American release)

The Hunger Games

Divergent

This should be an interesting combination of ideas.
