The method that was suggested to my group to help us focus in on the core of our ideas was to create an elevator pitch. We all pretended with this pitch that we had met some sort of big producer in our chosen field in a lift, and we only had about 30 seconds to sell our idea to them before they get to their floor.
We had to present these pitches in front of everyone else in the group, which I have to admit was quite nerve-racking. Not because of the pressure of being filmed or presenting my idea, simply because it was in front of multiple people. I do wish there had actually been a lift involved - it would have been a much smaller audience to my fidgets and cracking voice.
As for writing the pitch itself, I was definitely able to see the benefits of it. It really helped me to solidify the core of my concept and narrative, as well as stop me from procrastinating over choosing the name for my character so that my pitch would flow better.
This is the pitch that I presented:
I am making an open world, exploration game based on ‘The Great War’ by René Magritte, called The Great Peace.
The main quest is triggered by a fight between the Stone Guardians of the Sun and Moon shrines- their petty squabble becomes far more serious when the Moon Guardians knock the core of the Sun, the Hana Orb, off its pedestal and it goes missing, causing an endless night.
The Sun Guardians, unable to handle it themselves, find a girl named Solis, to return the orb and restore daytime.
The game follows Solis on her journey to bring back peace to the world.
While I would of course love to create the game itself, I know that won't be possible, given that I don't have all of the skills required to produce it alone, never mind the amount of time it would take.
Therefore, as my final piece for this project, I have decided that I will create the menu screen for the game. This menu screen will have subtle animation in order to create visual interest, the game title, standard menu options, music and some sound.

Sounds a great idea. Looking forward to seeing the final product.
